Apple ancora una volta citata per violazione di brevetti insieme ad altre 21 società

Non è la prima volta che sentiamo parlare di Apple riguardo alle accuse di violazione di alcuni brevetti da altre società. Bene ancora una volta la società californiana ed altre 21 compagnie sono state citate in tribunale per la violazione di 14 brevetti dalla Micro Unity System.
Elenchiamo in dettaglio tutti i presunti brevetti violati:

  • U.S. Patent No. 6,427,190, “Configurable Cache Allowing Cache-Type and Buffer-Type Access.”
  • U.S. Patent No. 6,725,356 C1, “System with Wide Operand Architecture, and Method.”
  • U.S. Patent No. 7,213,131, “Programmable Processor and Method for Partitioned Group Element Selection Operation.”
  • U.S. Patent No. 7,216,217 B2, “Programmable Processor with Group Floating-Point Operations.”
  • U.S. Patent No. 7,260,708 B2, “Programmable Processor and Method for Partitioned Group Shift.”
  • U.S. Patent No. 7,353,367 B2, “System and Software for Catenated Group Shift Instruction.”
  • U.S. Patent No. 7,509,366 B2, “Multiplier Array Processing System with Enhanced Utilization at Lower Precision.”
  • U.S. Patent No. 7,653,806 B2, “Method and Apparatus for Performing Improved Group Floating-Point Operations.”
  • U.S. Patent No. 7,660,972 B2, “Method and Software for Partitioned Floating-Point Multiply-Add Operation.”
  • U.S. Patent No. 7,660,973 B2, “System and Apparatus for Group Data Operations.”

I brevetti in questione riguardano l’utilizzo di una tecnologia mirata ad estendere il ruolo di calcolo del microprocessore per il controllo dei dispositivi; tra cui l’iPhone.
Vi terremo aggiornati sui futuri sviluppi a riguardo.

Apple coinvolta ancora una volta nella questione della violazione di brevetti

Ancora una volta Apple viene denunciata per una questione di violazione di brevetti. Stavolta però la società statunitense viene accusata dalla Smartphone Technologies, la quale ha anche citato aziende come RIM, AT&T, Samsung, Motorola ed LG.

Ci rimane molto difficile capire come mai ci siano stati così tanti brevetti violati da società piuttosto conosciute nei confronti di un’azienda che invece non ha un grande nome.
Tuttavia ecco l’elenco completo di tutti i brevetti violati:

  • Patent No. 6,950,645: “Power Conserving Intuitive Device Discovery Technique in a Bluetooth Environment.”
  • Patent No. 7,076,275: “Method and System for Single-Step Enablement of Telephony Functionality for a Portable Computer System.”
  • Patent No. 7,506,064: “Handheld Computer System that Attempts to Establish an Alternative Network Link Upon Failing to Establish a Requested Network Link.”
  • Patent No. 7,533,342: “System and Method of a Personal Computer Device Providing Telephone Capability.”
  • Patent No. 6,711,609: “Method and Apparatus for Synchronizing an Email Client on a Portable Computer System with an Email Client on a Desktop Computer.”
  • Patent No. RE40,459: “Method and Apparatus for Communicating Information Over Low Bandwidth Communications Networks.”

I brevetti in questione riguardano i metodi per la sincronizzazione e tenciche di utilizzo per Bluetooth.
Staremo a vedere come evolverà anche questa nuova vicenda.

Apple vs HTC: l’obiettivo è Google

Apple vs HTC: elenco di altri brevetti e dei telefoni interessati

Ne abbiamo già ampiamente parlato in :

Adesso la vicenda si arricchisce di ulteriori retroscena.

Intanto HTC ha tranquillizzato i propri azionisti dichiarando che la denuncia(ancora tutta da verificare per HTC) non inciderà sulle vendite dell’azienda nel breve termine e ha dichiarato che “la chiave per il successo nell’industria degli smartphone è la scelta e l’esistenza di diversi produttori che forniscono varie esperienze mobile”.

Tuttavia il nuovo retroscena non sono le dichiarazioni di HTC infatti anche un’altra azienda è entrata indirettamente nella causa, stiamo parlando di Google.

Quest’ultima risulta coinvolta nella vicenda perchè molti dei brevetti violati(visibili con l’articolo sopra riportato ndr)riguardano appunto il sistema operativo di Google, Android. A questo punto le distinzioni fatte da Apple sugli smartphone Android e Windows Mobile potrebbero essere interpretate come un attacco non troppo indiretto al colosso di Mountain View, che con un portavoce ha fatto sapere “Non siamo parte di questo processo. Tuttavia, sosteniamo il nostro sistema operativo Android e i partner che ci hanno aiutato a svilupparlo”.

A questo punto bisogna vedere se Google parteciperà alla vicenda mettendo a disposizione il proprio reparto legale ad HTC oppure interverrà facendo causa ad Apple o ancora potrebbe anche estraniarsi dalla vicenda.

Una cosa certa è che ne vedremo delle belle.

Continua la “lotta” tra Apple e HTC sulla questione della violazione dei brevetti. Di seguito l’elenco dei telefoni interessati ed altri brevetti:

  • The ‘076 Patent, entitled “Automated Response To And Sensing Of User Activity In Portable Devices,” was duly and legally issued on December 15, 2009 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A copy of the ‘076 Patent is attached hereto as Exhibit F.
  • The ‘105 Patent, entitled “GMSK Signal Processors For Improved Communications Capacity And Quality,” was duly and legally issued on December 8, 1998 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A copy of the ‘105 Patent is attached hereto as Exhibit G.
  • The ‘453 Patent, entitled “Conserving Power By Reducing Voltage Supplied To An Instruction-Processing Portion Of A Processor,” was duly and legally issued on June 3, 2008 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A copy of the ‘453 Patent is attached hereto as Exhibit H.
  • The ‘381 Patent, entitled “List Scrolling And Document Translation, Scaling, And Rotation On A Touch-Screen Display,” was duly and legally issued on December 23, 2008 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A copy of the ‘381 Patent is attached hereto as Exhibit D.

Ecco i dispostitivi di proprietà HTC incriminati per la violazione dei brevetti; essi montano sistemi operativi Windows Mobile e Android: Nexus One, Touch Pro, Touch Diamond, Touch Pro2, Tilt II, Pure, Imagio, Dream / G1, myTouch 3G, Hero, HD2, e Droid Eris.

Chissà quale sarà il verdetto di questa lunga competizione.

Vi avevamo gia parlato ieri della denuncia effettuata da Apple ai danni di HTC relativamente alla violazione di 20 brevetti riguardanti l’iPhone.
Bene ne sono stati resi pubblici alcuni i quali a parere di Apple sono stati violati da HTC:

  • The ‘331 Patent, entitled “Time-Based, Non-Constant Translation Of User Interface Objects Between States,” was duly and legally issued on April 22, 2008 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • The ‘949 Patent, entitled “Touch Screen Device, Method, And Graphical User Interface For Determining Commands By Applying Heuristics,” was duly and legally issued on January 20, 2009 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A copy of the ‘949 Patent is attached hereto as Exhibit B.
  • The ‘849 Patent, entitled “Unlocking A Device By Performing Gestures On An Unlock Image,” was duly and legally issued on February 2, 2010 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A copy of the ‘849 Patent is attached hereto as Exhibit C.
  • The ‘726 Patent, entitled “System And Method For Managing Power Conditions Within A Digital Camera Device,” was duly and legally issued on July 6, 1999 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A copy of the ‘726 Patent is attached hereto as Exhibit E.
  • The ‘599 Patent, entitled “Object-Oriented Graphic System,” was duly and legally issued on October 3, 1995 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A copy of the ‘599 Patent is attached hereto as Exhibit I.
  • The ‘354 Patent, entitled “Object-Oriented Event Notification System With Listener Registration Of Both Interests And Methods,” was duly and legally issued on July 23, 2002 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A copy of the ‘354 Patent is attached hereto as Exhibit J.
